Marek- 1 Month Old

One Month Old- 12.6 lbs and 22.8 inches long

At one month old you took your first road trip to the Lake of the Ozarks for memorial weekend to Grandma Gails and Grandpa Dennis's.  We stopped half way to see grandma Vicky to allow Lakelyn to stretch her legs and you to eat.  You did great and slept the entire time.  Since your umbilical cord hadn’t fallen off yet we weren’t able to get you in the water.  However you did get your first boat ride and slept the entire time.

You are such a happy and easy baby which your dad and I will forever be grateful for.  The only time you fuss is when you are hungry, tired or gassy and all of these can quickly be solved.  At the end of this month you really began to smile and coo.

Eating-  You are still nursing during the day and eating formula at night.  However, you are eating more then I can supply so after nursing if you are still hungry we will give you pumped breast milk or formula.  You are eating 4oz of milk and/or formula every time you eat, which is 2-3 hrs during the day and still waking twice at night.  At 6 weeks you started only waking once at night and taking a 4oz formula bottle.

Sleeping- We still swaddled you anytime you were sleeping.  You normally have your night bottle between 8pm-9pm.  Until 5 weeks old you were waking twice a night.  Then at 5 weeks some nights you would only wake once.  Then at 6 weeks you became more routine to only wake once.  Depending on when your last bottle was and when you went to sleep you typically had a 6 hr sleep stretch before waking for a feeding.  This was normally around 3 am then you would wake again between 6am and 6:30am.  This month I felt you were easier to get back to sleep after eating.  We could put you in your crib and 95% of the time you would go back to sleep on your own after grunting a few times.  When you woke up in the morning I would put you in bed with me to nurse on and off until we got up for the day around 10am.

Clothes- Still in 3 month clothes and some 3-6 month outfits.  Your arms are so chunky that some outfits are tight around them.

Diaper- At 7 weeks you moved from a size 1 to a size 2.

Marek- Birth to 1 Month

Eating- Breastfeeding was very easy for you.  You latched on immediately and nursed like a champ.  However, until my milk came in we supplemented with formula.  And once my milk came in it still wasn’t enough to keep up with your demand.  You nursed during the day and we gave you formula at night.  During the day we woke you every 2 hrs to eat and at night every 3hrs.     At night you were eating 2oz formula bottles. We did this until your 1 week appointment when we knew you were back up to birth weight and were told by the doctor we no longer needed to wake you to feed.  At one week old you were waking on your own to eat, about every 2 hours during the day and twice at night.  You were still breast feeding during the day and eating 4oz formula bottle at night.  You typically took a bottle around 8pm and then woke between 1am-2am and then again at 4am-5am.  At three weeks you were still sleeping the same however eating a few 5 oz formula bottles at night.

Sleeping- You were swaddled anytime you were sleeping.  After bringing you home from the hospital we woke you to eat every 2 hrs during the day and 3 at night.  At one week old we let you wake up when ready to eat.  After having your 8pm bottle you would sleep until around 1am-2am and then wake again around 4am-5am.  When you woke at night you weren’t mad once you ate however it took a while to get you back to sleep.  Sometimes you would be wide awake and other times the minute we put you back in the crib you would wake up and we would have to start all over again.  You would wake up again around 6:30am and I would put you in bed with me where you would nurse on and off until about 9am when we would get up for the day.

Clothes- From birth to 2 weeks you wore a few newborn outfits and 0-3 month clothes.  However, at 3 weeks you hit a growth spurt and all newborn and 0-3 month clothes were to small and you starting wearing 3 month clothes.  They were still a little big on you but the smaller sizes were too small.

Diaper-  From birth to one and half weeks old you wore a newborn diaper.  Then you switched to a size 1 diaper.
