Ever
since Lakelyn was 10 months old she has walked around with assistance from push
toys. She cruised around furniture but
never let go to try and take a few steps by herself. She would grab her push toy to walk to an
object she wanted and then pick up then walk back with the push toy.
You
never want your babies to grow up but then again you want them to meet those
milestones when it seems everyone else’s baby your age is. So when her 1 year old birthday kept getting
closer to say Luke and I were a little anxious would be an understatement. But that day came and went and she was no
closer to walking.
We
took her to her 12 month check up and the doctor was not concerned at all with
her not walking and told me that if she is cruising then nothing was wrong with
her hips or legs since she was putting weight on them, she just needed the
confidence to do it!
Luke
and I spent many nights trying to get her to walk from one of us to the
other. We bribed her with holding fruit
snacks and she would take a few steps but enjoyed trust falling into us more.
I
got on the internet and read that the average age for most babies to walk is 15
months. So I tried to not worry about it
and just wait it out.
Finally
at 14 ½ months Lakelyn decided to walk!!
A few weeks before she was getting braver and taking a few steps but
then falling and choosing to crawl over walking. Now she chooses to walk over crawling. She still crawls and is not quite ready to go
outside or to the grocery store and only walk but she is getting there. Now that she has the walking down she is really
working on her balance and confidence, walking faster and turning quicker!
Luke
and I always cheer for Lakelyn when she does something that excites us or we
want her to know we are proud. In the
second video you can hear her cheering for herself. SO CUTE!!
Love
that my little baby is finally walking!!
Videos were taken on my phone so not the best quality!

Good job baby girl. My oldest didn't walk until 14 months too
ReplyDeleteYay, so exciting! Kyla walked right around 13 months. I couldn't see the videos because they said they're private, but I'm sure she's adorable walking. Now the fun really begins, haha :)
